Terms of Use
Effective October 7, 2026 · Version 1.0
- Keep your eyes on the road. Obey traffic laws and road signs over anything Waypoint says.
- Camera and report data comes from volunteers and other drivers. It can be wrong or out of date.
- Use Waypoint legally. Don’t use it to damage cameras, harass anyone or interfere with police or emergency work.
- Waypoint is free and provided “as is”.
These Terms are an agreement between you and Logan K, the individual who operates Waypoint (“Waypoint”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Waypoint app or website (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
1. Who can use Waypoint
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian, who also agrees to these Terms. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity on your account.
2. Drive safely
Your safety and the safety of others come first.
- Set your destination before you start driving. Do not type, search, report or read the screen while the vehicle is moving. Let a passenger do it, or pull over somewhere safe.
- Mount your phone where it doesn’t block your view and use it hands-free as required by law. Many states, including Rhode Island, ban holding a phone while driving.
- Always obey traffic laws, road signs, signals, police and road conditions, even if Waypoint suggests something different. Routes may include roads that are closed, unsafe, private or not suitable for your vehicle.
- Camera alerts and reports are information only. Never brake suddenly, swerve or speed because of an alert.
3. Map, camera and report data
Camera locations come from OpenStreetMap, a public map edited by volunteers, including the DeFlock project. Directions, satellite images, place names and other map data come from the third-party services listed on our Data & licenses page. Reports come from other drivers.
This data may be incomplete, inaccurate, out of date or missing entirely. A camera that is not shown may still exist, and one that is shown may have been removed or may point another way. Directions of view, photos and “what it sees” views are estimates. Do not rely on Waypoint to know whether you are being recorded, or for any legal, safety or emergency decision.
Waypoint shows publicly available information about the location of public infrastructure. It is not legal advice and does not tell you anything about what any camera operator does with its recordings.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Waypoint to:
- break any law, or help or encourage anyone else to;
- damage, vandalize, disable, block, steal or tamper with any camera, sign, vehicle or other property;
- harass, stalk, threaten or intimidate anyone, including police officers, camera installers or other drivers;
- avoid a lawful traffic stop, flee police, or interfere with police, fire, ambulance or other emergency work;
- post false, misleading or prank reports, or reports meant to send drivers into danger;
- include anyone’s personal information, or anything hateful, obscene or threatening, in anything you submit;
- scrape, copy or resell the Service’s data in bulk, overload our servers, create accounts by automated means, or try to get around our limits, security or rules;
- reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows it, or pretend to be someone else.
See our Community & Safety Guidelines for more detail.
5. Your reports
You own what you submit. By submitting a report or vote you give us a worldwide, free, non-exclusive license to store, display, adapt and share it as part of the Service, and to let other users see it. Reports are shown without your name or email. You confirm that what you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge. We may remove any report, and we are not responsible for reports made by other users.
6. Ending your access
You can stop using Waypoint and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or end your account, or remove content, if you break these Terms, if needed to protect others, or if we stop offering the Service. Sections 3, 5 (for content already shared), 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 continue after your account ends.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Waypoint and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, or for any traffic tickets, fines, accidents, injuries or property damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.
Some places do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Indemnity
If you misuse the Service or break these Terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs, damages and legal fees that Waypoint faces from any resulting claim, to the extent allowed by law.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Rhode Island, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.
11. Ownership, trademarks and independence
Waypoint’s software, code, design, look and feel, text, graphics, icons, logo and the name “Waypoint” as used for this app are owned by Logan K and protected by copyright and other laws. © 2026 Waypoint. All rights reserved. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the Service as offered, for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, frame, mirror, sell or distribute the Service or any part of it, or use it to build a copy or a competing app, without our written permission. Open-source parts and third-party data keep their own licenses, listed on our Data & licenses page, and nothing here limits your rights under them.
Waypoint is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Flock Safety, any other camera maker, any police department or government agency, Google, Apple, Waze, or any data provider we use. “Flock Safety” and other names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe the cameras shown.
12. Third-party services and links
Waypoint relies on and links to services run by others (for example map, satellite, routing and street-photo providers). Their terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. If a change is important we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before continuing. If you don’t agree, stop using Waypoint and delete your account.
14. Other terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part right away, we haven’t given up the right to do so later. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them if Waypoint changes owners.
